Ahh, Summer!

The Great Outdoors. Camping. Fishing. Amusement parks. Swimming pools. Picnic lunches. S’Mores. Fireworks.

And, BUGS!

They are bad this year. The deer ticks especially. I have had more people calling me for Bug Guard than in any of the years I have been selling Avon. One customer told me she found four ticks on herself after attending her son’s baseball game. Yuck! Be sure to always check yourself for ticks after you’ve been outside, even if you’re just cutting the grass or washing the car. And check your doggo too! Mosquitoes are another problem bug. They carry diseases as well, and they are especially active at dawn and dusk. Make sure there is no standing water around where people are congregating – a bucket left outside, a bird bath, a puddle. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water, and then you have thousands more mosquitoes!

Of course, there are lots more biting bugs in the summer to be watchful for. Horse flies, gnats, no-seeums, sand flies – it makes me shudder just to think about them all.
